Q: What is Pay Online?
A: Pay your bill free online using your Visa®, MasterCard®, checking account or savings account. Pay Online is compatible with our eBill program. You will need to register and save a payment option before using this service. Payments can be scheduled to post to your DTE Energy account as early as the next business day or up to 60 days in advance.
Q: Do I need to enroll?
A: No enrollment is necessary. You just need to register (requires an e-mail address and password) your DTE Energy account and a saved payment method. You may have up to four payment methods on file at any time. From the Manage My Account page, just click on "Make a Payment" to start and complete your payment.
Q: Will I still receive a paper bill?
A: Yes, your bill will still be mailed to you. But if you like paying online, you may want to try our eBill program to have your bill delivered electronically. With eBill, we send you an e-mail each month when your bill is ready to be viewed.
Q: How do I view my bill?
A: Sign in to your account. Click the "Summary" link next to Statement Balance on the Account Summary page.
Q: Can I use my credit card?
A: Yes, you can pay online with your Visa® or MasterCard®. If you are interested in recurring payments with your credit card, you will need to signup for eBill (paperless billing).
Q: How do I change bank information?
A: Sign in to your account. Your personal Account Summary page will be displayed. Select the link for "Manage Payment Methods" and select the payment option you need to edit. Some information cannot be edited. You may need to delete the payment option and then re-enroll with the correct payment information.
Q: How do I pay multiple accounts?
A: If you receive multiple statements, you will have the opportunity to select which account(s) you would like to pay online. Each account will need to be paid separately.
Q: What are the Pay Online Terms and Conditions?
A: Read the complete DTE Energy Pay Online Terms and Conditions here.
Q: Is Pay Online secure?
A: Yes. We use industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring customer data. When we transfer sensitive information, we redirect you to secure server that encodes all the data before it is transmitted over Internet. For security and privacy, you must sign in at my.dteenergy.com with your user ID and password to create or view your payment methods.
Q: Will I receive a payment notification e-mail?
A: This is an optional service you can request. From the Account Summary page, click on the Payment Notification link and "select" to receive payment notifications. When your payment is posted to our billing system, we will send you an e-mail.
Q: How do I change the payment date of my scheduled payment?
A: To change the payment date of a scheduled payment, you must cancel the original payment and make a new scheduled payment. You can find a list of scheduled payments on your Account Details page. Payments can be scheduled or canceled up to one business day before the due date.
Q: How do I change the amount of my scheduled payment?
A: To change the payment amount, you must cancel the original scheduled payment and make a new scheduled payment in the new amount. Payments can be scheduled or canceled one business day before the payment date.
Q: Can I make a payment using a gift card?
A: If you have a gift card that has the Visa® or MasterCard® logo on it, you may use it to pay your DTE Energy bill. Please check the terms and conditions that apply to your specific gift card. Some gift card issuers place an 'authorization hold' on certain transactions, which may reduce your available balance.
