Energy spruce-ups for Spring!

• Now's the ideal time to plant trees and shrubs to protect your home from summer’s heat and winter’s wind.  Plant shade trees on the south side of your home to reduce cooling costs, and evergreen trees and shrubs on the north and the west sides to reduce heating costs. • Get a jump on summer - seal leaks around doors and windows now to keep summer heat out and cool air in.
  
  
• Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) use about 75 percent less energy and last up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs. Learn more at energystar.gov.
  
  
• Replace older appliances with new energy efficient appliances carrying the ENERGY STAR label. Switch to natural gas appliances and save more than 25 percent in energy costs over using electric or propane appliances.
